Bio:

To those outside the realm of my family, I am known as Aukan. To my clan I am Aukan Stonemaster Anakalathai. Raised in the mountainous regions of Eberron, I am a friend to those seeking safe passage over the rocks and crevasses. In my youth I lived well and as is with most of my clan, cared little of the world of downlanders. I held no ill will of anyone or any race, as long as they brought no harm to us or the mountain and as long as they can keep up the pace from peak to peak. Slow me down and I’ll leave you to the giants.

I was still young when my fortunes changed. Traveling down to the lower places for the winter, my brother Vimak (whom we called LightFinder) wanted to continue down the mountain and insisted we meet with the dwarves. He had always been told of their skill at weapon making and desired a dwarven ax made from the finest metals and craft. I have no problem with dwarves, but always felt no comfort in the deep caverns in which they toil. Such places aren’t made for me and the journey to even find the dwarves is perilous. I couldn’t let him go alone and so we set off. That is the last I remember of that day.

I awoke lying stiff on the face of stone and only inches from the cliff overlooking the human village far below. Vimak was gone. My head wasn’t clear and my body felt as though I hadn’t moved in weeks. I searched for my brother for days. I found the dwarves who swore he had never entered their caves. I now feared that he might have been captured by the giants and enslaved. Only the giants could have taken someone so strong. The thought of him serving those oafish creatures enraged me. I returned to my clan and sought their help in freeing him. But, alas it was I who was accused of a crime. They had thought us both dead, for I had been gone for weeks. I was confused and had no explanation. How could this be?

When I told them of what happened, I was blamed and held responsible. “What have you done!?” they yelled. “LightFinder’s fate is by your hand, whether by sword or by foolishness.” I was cast out of the mountains and forbidden to return without Vimak. I searched for many years and have given up hope of this. By what magic or what evil this has happened, I may never know.

I eventually found myself living with humans in the valley at the base of the mountain. I found the best place for my “talents” was the military. It fits me well, as I do love a good fight. I have to be careful, however. It took me a while to get used to dealing with…how should we say…more fragile foes. Quite a mess can be made of goblins when I’m around. But it was fun!

So, my fate has turned. I now am chiefly concerned with what happens to the downlanders, as I am one of them. I’m a soldier and my men and I are tasked with the defense of this land. Even so, I will always seek to know my brother’s fate. And I will always miss the calling of the mountains. I do hope to return, in time.
